I love to have a positive message with my art. Several of my art pieces are based on one of my favorite verses from the Holy Word Of God. One of my very favorite paintings is called, “Peace Be Still.” it is based on the scripture when the disciples are very scared, because of a really bad storm, while they are in their fishing boat out on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus is taking a nap, while the disciples are very frightened for their lives and they wake up Jesus. He tells them they are men of little faith and then He raises His Hands and orders the storm and the seas, “Peace Be STill!” Immediately the storm stops and the rough seas become still. I also like to have a character education message for the children in schools. I one painting I do called, “Choose Your Battles.” Two Crabs are fighting and one crab is leaving. I ask the children which crab is making the smartest choice. They always tell me the crab who is leaving is making the best choice, because it will not get hurt or get in to a lot of trouble.
I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay in Daphne, Alabama. My family and I loved to spend most of their family time on or around the Daphne May Day Pier and Beach. I have enjoyed expressing my love for all of God’s beautiful creations around the water by drawing them with Pen and Ink, for many years. Since losing my eyesight, I have learned to use many types of textures to draw sea life. I use Elmer’s Glue, Textured Paints, Crayons, Oil Pastels, Grease Pencils and many more textures. I have fun experimenting with different textures to express my self in art.
